The Purpose of Christβs Coming βοΈππ
Beloved,
As we celebrate this Advent season, let us fix our eyes on the One who came to save us from our sinsβJesus Christ, the Lamb of God. John the Baptist proclaimed,
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). πΊοΈβοΈ
This declaration encapsulates the mission of Christ: to be the sacrificial Lamb, spotless and pure, who would bear the penalty for our sins. π
The birth of Christ was no ordinary event; it was the unfolding of Godβs eternal plan of redemption. From the manger to the cross, Jesusβ life was marked by His purpose to save sinners and reconcile us to God. Let us take time to reflect on the significance of His coming and the love that motivated such a profound act of grace. πβ¨
The Lamb Foretold in Scripture ππ
Godβs plan for redemption through Christ was not an afterthought; it was ordained before the foundation of the world. The imagery of the Lamb is woven throughout Scripture, pointing to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus.
- The Passover Lamb βοΈπ
In the Old Testament, the Passover lamb was sacrificed to spare the Israelites from judgment:
“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you” (Exodus 12:13). π©Έ
This powerful event foreshadowed Christβs sacrifice. Just as the blood of the lamb saved the Israelites from death, so the blood of Jesus delivers us from sin and eternal separation from God. βοΈπ
- The Suffering Servant β¨π
Isaiah prophesied of the Messiahβs suffering and sacrifice:
“He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth” (Isaiah 53:7). ππ
Jesus fulfilled this prophecy by willingly laying down His life for us. He bore the weight of our sin and shame, enduring the cross with humility and obedience. βοΈπΏ
- The Spotless Lamb βοΈπ
Peter reminds us of Christβs sinless nature and perfect sacrifice:
“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:19). ππ©Έ
Only a perfect, spotless sacrifice could atone for the sins of the world. Jesus, free from sin, willingly became that sacrifice, offering His life to redeem ours. ππ
Why Jesus Came βοΈπ
The purpose of Christβs coming was not merely to live among us but to save us, restore us, and fulfill Godβs redemptive plan. πΊοΈβ¨
- To Save Sinners ποΈπ«
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). β¨
Jesus came to redeem us from the bondage of sin, offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe. His mission was one of mercy and grace, rescuing us from spiritual death and giving us abundant life. π±π
- To Fulfill the Law πβοΈ
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil” (Matthew 5:17). π
Christ perfectly fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law, living a sinless life and satisfying the demands of justice on our behalf. Through His obedience, we are made righteous before God. ππ«
- To Reconcile Us to God βοΈποΈ
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life” (Romans 5:10). ππ
Through His sacrifice, Jesus restored the relationship between God and man that had been broken by sin. He is our Mediator, bringing us into the presence of a holy God. πΏπ
Living in Light of the Lamb ποΈπ
Beloved, as we behold the Lamb of God this season, let us respond with hearts full of gratitude and worship. Jesusβ sacrifice calls us to live in a way that reflects His love and grace.
- Repentance βοΈπ
Turn away from sin and toward the One who paid the ultimate price for our redemption.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). π - Faith βοΈπͺ
Trust fully in Christβs finished work on the cross, knowing that His sacrifice is sufficient for our salvation.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). ππ - Proclamation π’β¨
Share the good news of the Lamb of God with others, so they too may experience His saving grace.
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). πΊοΈπ
Behold and Believe βοΈβ¨
The birth of Christ is a call to behold and believe. He is the Lamb who was slain, the Savior who was born to die, and the King who reigns forever. His coming is a testament to Godβs faithfulness and love, and it invites us into a relationship with Him that transforms our lives. πβ¨
As we reflect on His coming, let us echo the words of heaven:
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing” (Revelation 5:12). ππβ¨
Embracing the Lamb of God βοΈππ
Beloved, this Advent season, may we stand in awe of the Lamb of God, whose love and sacrifice have changed everything. Let us marvel at the wonder of His birth, rejoice in the gift of His grace, and share the light of His love with a world in need. ππ
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful” (Revelation 21:5). βοΈβ¨
This is the purpose of Christβs coming: to save, restore, and reign in our hearts and lives. May we honor Him with every thought, word, and action, proclaiming His glory and living as a testament to His grace. ππβ¨
